All electronic and electrical products shipped anywhere in the world require proof of passing certified lab EMC and Safety validation at minimum. Depending on the product and the market, additional testing may be required as well. Examples include ROHS (heavy metal content), fire safety, ergonomics, energy efficiency, shock and vibration, weather and toxic environment exposure, oxygen exposure, and product lifespan testing to name a few examples.
For a product manufacturer, this means not only testing, but managing extensive documentation for every product shipped. The risk of not having proper documentation from properly certified labs is having shipping shut down and fines assesssed. Even worse, not having proper testing and documentation can expose a manufacturer to unnecesary liability risks.
There are many many test labs around the world offering compliance testing. Many are certified for the market places that products are shipped, some are not. Many provide proper reports and documentation, some do not. Our expertice at SEI includes product compliance management. We can review and validate compliance documentation to help ensure the right documentation is in place from properly certified labs.
In addition, SEI’s resources for electronic product EMC management are extensive. From product design and layout reviews to product prescreening to product certification testing, we have you covered. Located in the North Georgia Mountains, our product prescreen lab validates product compliance with FCC / Canada / IEC and other international EMC test standards. Our partner lab in Soutwest Michigan, AHD, offers certified testing as well.
